As of the 1st March 2005 the Weingarten based German company Visicontrol, one of the pioneers of industrial vision systems, has become part of the Swiss Baumer Group. The Baumer Group is known worldwide for its' success in precision sensors and motion control, and this acquisition will strengthen the product range and knowledge of the company in their vision and identification business which comprises of Baumer Optronic, Baumer Ident, Massen Machine vision systems, LuxScan Technologies and Qualivision. The aquisition of Visicontrol increases not only the product range the Baumer Group are able to offer, but also brings with it the manpower of 40 vision specialists with many years of experience in the development of high end vision systems and their applications. Now with over 200 employees involved in vision technology, Baumer has made significant progress in becoming a major force in the European vision market.
